Casa de Chihuahuas and Chaos

The face off: Ace versus Bitty.

What cures eight hours in a car with two hyperactive Chihuahuas that do nothing but terrorize their cousin Chihuahua with incessant yapping and growling?

Why, pie of course!

And not just any pie, but my favorite: apple crumbly pie. Oh, sweet heavens. My dear mother-in-law not only made me her famous spaghetti, but she made me a pie. A la mode, of course. Let me tell you, after the sniping and growling my two little "angels" have been doing, it was desperately needed.

As Ben's sister, Maggie, said: Small, Medium, and Large (from right to left.)

You see, here in Shreveport, it is Casa de Chihuahuas. They have Ace, we have the Babies. Wherever you go, you have the pitter-pattering of paws prancing behind you.

Not to mention the barking, snarling, sniping and down right obnoxiousness. I'm ashamed to say it, but I've raised two antisocial introvert Chihuahuas.

The worst part is they aren't ashamed at all.

They're prancing around as if they own this place and Ace is simply an intruder to be exterminated.

So for the sake of my sanity and keeping the peace....

Can't we all just get along?

I think I'll need to bake some more pies.

And I've got a pile of berries to do it, provided by my dear mother-in-law. At first when I saw these, I immediately thought of my blueberry raspberry crumble. Remember?

But then I thought, let's be new! Experiment! Try something different!

So, send me your suggestions! Keep sending me your questions. Also, don't fear Invisible Friends. Peanut butter pie and more fun tales are on the way!

I love apple pie with a streusel toppings. There's just no other way to eat it, so I know I'd love yours. Your berries look so delicious. I've been making clafoutis lately-we had one last night for dessert. You basically make a very soft cake batter, top it with berries and sugar, bake it and then drizzle it with cream when you serve it. It's scrape the bottom of the pan good.

Apple crumble pie...one of the top 10 comfort foods. What a wonderful mother-in-law you have. the pups are adorable. Maybe with your berries, you can try making some preserves or cobblers.

We Yankees love blueberry pie. Look for my mulberry pie recipe and use it with the blackberries. How about blueberry cobbler with a thin topping, instead of the traditional thick southern style? Looks like you're having a nice visit, and the Queen will have to "play nice" for a little while!

That was so sweet of Paula to make you a pie, especially apple. Maggie is so pretty holding the pups, I hope she is having a good school year. Don't worry about the hurricane and have a great visit.

Oh Duckie, I wondered if you would have pie and you did! Yum. I personally love a raspberry, blackberry, blueberry combination pie. But I'll take any kind of pie. Have a great time!!!

After a long (and loud) car ride, you totally deserve an apple pie. It looks so good - especially the topping.

Apple Crumble is my favourite too. Thank you for visiting my blog it is lovely to meet you. I loved your story "The Enchanted Jewel Box" If you hadn't already tried the Apple Crumble i would have suggested that as the recipe to use for your berries. Your puppies are cute. Jane
