We're back!

I have a confession to make.

A secret I must share.

Please don't hate me, Invisible Friends but.......

I think I'm actually tired of sweets!

I know, I know. But when you combine this....

And these...

And this tasty cobbler...

With more hello dollies/ magic cookie bars....

And pecan pie....

You get a Blond Duck who needs to get on the treadmill. Stat.

Of course, I did more than just eat myself stupid while on the second destination of the Christmas Shreveport/ Austin Invasion '08 (but not much.)

While my mom and sister baked cookies for the neighbors on Christmas Eve, I escaped outside for a run and later took the Babies for a walk with Rascal, the Pike family dog.

Then I listened as my Dad grumbled and groused about Christmas and growled "Bah Humbug!" every time I put on Christmas carols. Scrooge and Eeyore are his idols.

Wuffle.

After I stuffed myself with chicken fried steak (I inhaled it too fast to get a picture), we opened presents. While I was thrilled with all the lovely things I got, including great new clothes, some kitchen stuff and Christmas stuff for next year, the Babies were not amused.

Snarl.

Not amused at all.

The next day, we opened our stockings and Mom cooked a lovely Christmas lunch.

And just in case you ever thought we here at the Pond were classy folks, this is how we drove back.

The Grizwalds ain't' got nothing on us. We're spoiled rotten from the generosity of our folks.

We're both very lucky to have such wonderful, kind, generous families.

We've also got lots of new kitchen toys you kitchen queens and kings will be enthralled with. Such as a new panini press, stew pot, Le Creuset pot...

A ton of new cookbooks that I spent all last night drooling over...(and a bunch of Southern Livings I stole from Shreveport....thanks Mama K!)

A pancake Christmas pan... Have I mentioned I love pancakes and waffles?

And a PINK frying pan! Elle Woods would perish in jealousy! And pink ice cube trays, pink tongs, pink refrigerator clips....

It's good to be pink. And it's good to be home. I hope ya'll had as great of a Christmas as we here at the Pond did!

Stay tuned, Invisible Friends! We have a new Twirl tomorrow, a new Kitchen Magic Sunday and the second part to Samantha's mysterious gift. Stay tuned!

Loved that everyone was dressed in red. And your Dad, well he just cracked me up!!! Can't wait to see what comes out of those cookbooks. Glad that a good time was had by all, well except Bitty and Bear.

I want a pink frying pan!! I did get an adorable red personal-sized casserole dish for making egg frittatas and such. I'm super excited for that -- even if it does scream single girl who cooks for one!

Oh and I can totally sympathize on the sugar-overload. I was more than happy to go for a long run and then eat my healthy yogurt, banana parfait for breakfast this morning. My body can only take so much chocolate cake, peanut butter paisley brownies, chocolate-covered cookies, and so on and so forth!

Woohoo...you sure made out good! And I'm sure after a couple of days of staying away from sweets, you'll back to hankering for it again. :)

My son Jeffrey gave me a tiny skillet for Christmas, and I used it this morning to make myself 2 eggs (and I didn't share). I wanted to scream at the sight of all the baked goods still on my breakfast room table. Next week, sweets will be good. Today, give me protein!

Glad you had a wonderful Christmas, Duckie; love the pictures of both of your families!

Merry Christmas to you! Looks like a great time.

I don't blame you for being sick of dessert... I am too!

Thank you for the wonderful sussie!

I know how you feel! I'm ready to eat something besides sugar too! I need to run, skip jump...whatever it takes to loose this extra baggage! It looks like you made quite the haul for Christmas, I can't wait to see what you cook up with all those kitchen toys!!

Lets see how to describe samosa to you. It is an Indian appitizer think spring rolls but only in the form of a triangle and they put spicy meats or potatos its very good and yummy lol

Marie said...

Ohh, Duckie, if you want a samosa recipe I can give you one. THey are wonderful, all spicy inside and crispy on the outside. Kind of like an empanada, but with an Indian spiced filling. Yummo! Looks like you had such a lovely Christmas. What a loaded car! It's a wonder that you, Ben and the babies fit into it at all! love, LOVE, LOVEEEE the pancake pan!!! How wonderful and what a pretty pink skillet! I also adore the little coats on the babies. How cute. I have noticed that your dad has the same expression on his face, no matter the picture. AMAZING!! Love you to bits my friend! XXOO

How cute is that pancake pan! Now you just cannot swear off the sweets now that you have that! :)

I love that pancake pan.

Oh man, I too am so SICK of sweets. So sad I feel like throwing all my cookies away. I was going to say toss my cookies but that would imply something completely different. hah.

Michelle said...

Okay, I totally know what you mean about the sweets! I bought myself a scale to see what damage had been done and to my surprise I had not gained a pound! I can't tell if I should say yay or that scale is defective because I ate a lot! It will creep up on me. I love that pink pan! Your little kiddies are so adorable in their sweaters! Ha! Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas. :)

Colleen said...

I agree with you! I am tired of food and drink in general right now but we still have more parties to attend! Your holiday looks wonderful!

Megan said...

I love that pancake pan. I have never seen one like that. You made a haul girl!
Love ALL the storys! keep them coming. You brighten up my days, :)

Great swag! Love the pinkness of the new toys you got. Maybe you can make it up to the wee pups with a bit of snuggle time.

I admit I'm pretty tired of sweets too. Unfortunately that probably won't last too long.
