I love to bake.
Hold on, that's not my confession.
I love to bake, but I have no one to feed.
Yes, it's true. My tongue tingles at all the delicious creations I want to whip up. My fingers twitch and my feet slide into the kitchen. But my mind says, no, no, for who would eat it?
Ben's on a diet.
My mother is on a diet.
My sister is on a diet.
My father's not a diet, but he only eats certain sweets and won't admit to liking those.
My friend Libby, as you all know, is on a diet.
All my other girlfriends are on a diet.
My co-workers will eat anything, but like Grace, I don't feel they are very appreciative. I made these peanut butter cookies for a party we had Friday. It didn't kill my craving to bake.
I have no children to feed, no neighbors that I like enough to supply with a year's worth of treats.
Sigh.
And there's so much I want to make:
- Prudy's Miniature apple turnovers
- Marie's Good as Apple Pie Dessert
- Amanda's Peanut butter and chocolate blondies ( I would use white chocolate. Slurp. Drool. Sigh.)
- Bunny's Apple Bread Pudding
- Grace's Peanut butter bars
- This fabulous pie at http://doughmesticgoddess.

I could even handle making banana nut bread.
I wouldn't complain at all about making oatmeal scotchies.
But I have no one to eat them.
I'm sure I feel this way because it's fall and the holidays are coming up. Everywhere I look are delicious recipes with pumpkin and apple and cinnamon and sugar and cream cheese and gingerbread...
But I'll have to drool from afar. Because I have no one to feed.
Perhaps I spoke too soon.
Excuse me. I have a new plan.

Ask around for volunteers. I would enroll in a blink of an eye if only I weren't an ocean away :(. Hey I know how about making some for the firemen brigade in your town? (oh boy and I'm actually serious about that)
Something about this post really hit my funny bone. It does seem strangely funny that you have all this lovely good sugar and yet everyone around you is dieting. What to do??
Perhaps you can get your baking grove on with Operation Baking Gals. http://operationbakinggals.blogspot.com/
:)
Bake smaller batches, so Ben only has to eat a little bit?
My dearly beloved and 2 of my sons don't really have much of a sweet tooth. Where did they come from? Not my planet!
amen. these past couple of weeks have been torturous for me. here i am, trying to punish the coworkers for not being grateful, and i'm ultimately punishing myself by not baking...
it's a hard life. :)
You just have to tailor your cooking to the nutritional needs of the dieters. We found out that we can cook up some amazing food that is also healthy. There are a bunch of books out on it. (We found out...it's all in the spices) ;-)
Maybe there's a fire station full of hungry fireman nearby to feed.
My cow-orkers would be very appreciative. Nothing so satisfying as seeing a member of senior management dragging his finger through the goo left on a plate of homemade caramel buns and asking, "When are you going to make more??
Get to baking and send to me for taste testing. It's a win/win situation, don't ya think? :)
I wish I lived close to help you out...but wait, I am already eating all of my treats. That wouldn't be good:) I love baking and eating them but I know I shouldn't so I do share with neighbors, friends, and good thing Josh helps me out!! Your PB cookies look very tasty!!
My problem is I'm dieting and I have no willpower! And my husband would prefer I cook his favorites over and over instead of trying new recipes.
I know what you mean. I like to bake but don't want to have too many goodies laying around because i'll eat them all myself. Even the kiddies are picky about the treats they eat. Usually i send some things in to my hubby's work or bring them to church.
I sometimes know how you feel. But thankfully there is always someone I can give stuff to. Either work (which is my last resort for the same reason as you) and both sets of parents. And a best friend who lives a few miles away. I may need to start giving somethings to the neighbors as well.
Haha, I would happily volunteer to gobble up all your baking treats! I run into this problem quite a lot, but I've convinced my husband that sweet treats are a must in life!
I am sure there would be volunteers around the corner wanting to sample home bakes for sure. Have you thought about freezing some bakes?
If I lived close my hubby for sure would love to take some bakes off your hands ;)

I wish i wasn't so far away i'd help you with the delicious looking cookies. I love homebaking but its proving difficult now Em is dairy free. Jane x
Freeze it sweetie then you'll be all set for the holidays when the rest of us are scrambling to make our goodies you'll be all set!
oh girl you are baking right up my lane - where do you live? I'm NOT on a diet and will at anything!
I feel the same way! I end up eating everything and that's not good for my waistline.
Could you bake for a shelter or something like that?
I am so sad that you don't have any one to share with! Diets are for the birds, I say. If you can't enjoy delicious sweets what is the point of exercising? I am lucky that there are many in my household who gobble down treats, and other family nearby who share in the eating. But, it is hard with so many yummy options out there, especially with all these bloggers churning out delicious goodies!
Hmm...send some my way! I'd love to have peanut butter cookies right now!
hahahahahaha!!!
I pretty much always drop my sweet stuff at work...unless I make it during the weekend in which case we just end up eating it all ;)
Haha! I know how you feel. Luckily, I can usually find one or two guy friends to relieve me of my baking creations. I also cut a lot of recipes in half!
You can always send them to me....LOL.
I think your little dogs would love a cookie.
I love peanut butter cookies and I would take a one day a week break from a diet to fit my fav sweets in! Actually, that is what I do but it's more like a life style instead of a diet.
I bet if you baked some wonderful treats and made plans ahead of time with a nursing home or elderly care facility they would devour your sweets!
Thanks for visiting blog! Yours is awesome and I plan to be back soon;) Your babies are adoreable!
Hey Lady! Today is your lucky day!
I'm not on a diet...just wish I could PUT some weight on! You bake and I'll eat! :)
I love to bake too...but I always end up eating it or throwing it out! Maybe be "lighter" things and you can feed it to everyone!
-Sandy Toes
I wish I lived closer! Your treats look delicious. I try not to bake too much because I will eat it all! I just can't resist!
Cute...but how much could those two eat!!! Now me on the other hand...I can EAT!
Take your goodies to
the assited living homes - I bet they would love to have your homemade treats, it will make their day and you will get to bake.
By the way, you CRACK me up! I always smile when I come to your site - thank you!
I'd let you bake for me Duckie, but then who would I bake for? How about baking a couple of times a week and donating it to an old people's home. You could go in and entertain them with some of your stories. I bet they'd love them! We ALL do!!! You have a wonderful fan base growing here. I'm so happy for you!
PS - Baked goods always make great Christmas pressies too. NOBODY's on a diet at Christmas!!
Oh how I share your sentiments. I have zero children and no pets, and my husband is often gone. And even when he is here, I eat more sweets than he does. One of my neighbors actually refused a piece of freshly baked coffee cake one morning, admitting that he was watching his girlish figure. I was so annoyed!
I have the same problem, but I just feed my co-workers, who are appreciative if I pull something out of the box, but not so sure if it is not. Oh well - sigh ... Your gorgeous puppies would LOVE it if they got to eat it all!!!
Oh just eat it yourself...that's what I do...
Feed me! ME!
Oh, the operation baking gals suggestion is also good :)
